See this work for what it is. Now imagine that the white woman from a western heritage has been replaced with a woman of color. See how your feeling to each dramatically changes.

A Collared Perception is meant to convey the imposed view that many people still seem to have of woman these days, that they are owned and for the express use of others. This could be by men or even by the class system that treats everyone differently according to their status. These men and woman need to be able to see past their historically sexist and racist views (especially if they’re cultural indoctrinated views) and see their actions as unjust and demeaning to both themselves and the people they interact with. This work has intentionally used a white woman from a western heritage as I’m sure it will be viewed with a certain amount of sexual arousal or lust, but if this woman were to be replaced with one of color such as an african black woman then the entire work would be viewed differently and I’m sure that this would include disgust for slavery.

This work is a mixture of traditional, digital painting and includes some photoshop.
